Later that afternoon, I attended a 1940′s community tea party at Christ Church. We were looked after by some very attentive youngsters. Far from 1940′s tea where I expected to have fish paste sandwiches if I was luckly, we had an enormous quantity of glorious cakes all served by uniformed youngsters wearing black dresses with white frilly aprons as worn by Jo Lyons teahouse waitresses – what incredible memories this evoked.
