Today we were happy to entertain Gill and Margaret, from the HBC Animal Welfare and Licensing Team, to a cream tea in The Parlour.

HBC has just been awarded an RSPCA CAWF silver award in the Stray Dog/Animal Welfare category. It is the hard work of Gill and her assistants that has won the award for the Council.

Andy and I were both amused and informed by the stories that we were told.

Today we helped turn on the lights on the Christmas Tree in Emsworth Square. With us were the oldest gentleman and youngest schoolchild, Ted and Todd.

After this we walked down to The Quay for the turn on of the lights on the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree, which is beautiful. There were hundreds of excited children and their parents.

Tuesday 24/11/15 Junior Citizen

November 24, 2015

Today Andy and I joined children from Front Lawn and St Albans Schools, for the annual Junior Citizen event at Fort Purbrook.

There were short lectures from the RNLI, Fire Service, Southern Domestic Abuse, Police and HBC Neighbourhood Quality. The children listened avidly and asked lots of questions.

I feel sure the children will share what they learned today with their families, a worthwhile outing for us all.

Saturday 21/11/15 Sweeney Todd

November 22, 2015

Our last engagement of the day was to see the musical Sweeney Todd. Performed by the Hayling Musical Society. After supper before the show, the performance begun. Goodness me, if I had known the script I might not have eaten the meat pie!

The Musical Society  are brilliant, so professional. The story, gory to say the least. The Hayling Community Centre was laid out as a restaurant with candles on the tables. Very atmospheric.

A very enjoyable end to a busy day.

Saturday 21/11/15 Opening Funlands WinterWonderland

November 22, 2015

imageOur third event today was to open the Funlands Winter Wonderland on Hayling Island. We didn’t think they could make it even better than last year, but they did. It is spectacular, a trip on the Santa Express and a meeting the Santa himself. He gave me a beautiful bouquet and said he knew I wanted diamond necklace, and it was on it’s way!

Well done to the Waterlooville Events Team supported by HBC for a great event.

November 21, 2015

The first visit of today was to the 100th meeting of The Crafty Turners Club in Bedhampton. A club where young people can learn crafts and wood working skills from adult volunteers. What lovely people they all were! I was taught how to make a Fountain Pen, which will make a great Christmas present. I didn’t know I was so clever!

Friday 20/11/15 Opening of the Warblington School Cycle Track

November 20, 2015

Today I cut the ribbon to officially open the new cycle track from Warblington School into Havant. It wil be so much safer for the children to use rather than the busy roads. Another example of great joint working between HBC, HCC and Sustrans.
