In the afternoon we visited Leigh Park Bowls Club. After a Buffet lunch we had the pleasure of watching part of a Bowls match between the club and a team from Bowls England. The match was to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the club, what a lovely club with friendly members who made us feel so very welcome.

We returned to Winchester today but to the Great Hall. In the presence of the Lord Lieutenant, 33 residents of Hampshire became British Citizens. It was a very moving service, where in some cases whole families swore allegiance to the Queen.

It was a good opportunity to meet again people we had already been introduced too and to meet new ones. There are 13 newly elected Mayors and Chairman each year.

The day of The Hayling Lions Club Donkey Derby. What a great day, so sunny and the Legion Field was packed with families enjoying the afternoon out.

With many stalls, fairground games and donkey rides, there really was something for everyone. The Lions Clubs do so much for our Community, it is a pleasure to be able to support them.

We also took the opportunity to publicise Play Parks for Hayling with our local police and new MP Alan Mak.

As a Hayling Councillor I really enjoyed seeing the DVD of the train arriving on Hayling from Havant as the line was axed many years before I came to the Island.

It is usual for all Mayors to be invited to a Buckngham Palace Garden Party. So today was our turn.

Andy and I were lucky enough to be allowed to take two guests, so we took my sister Eve and my Chaplain Rev Pennie Payne. It was a lovely sunny day, albeit a little windy. We sat in the beautiful gardens people watching, drinking tea and eating sandwiches and cakes. There were two bands playing lovely music. We saw Her Majesty and Prince Philip from a little distance. Truly a memorable day for us all.
