Cllr Leah Turner is elected as Mayor of Havant

I moved to Hayling Island in 1978, and was elected as a Havant Borough Councillor for Hayling East in 2010. I have since been a member of the DMC, the planning committee. Scrutiny Lead for Governance and Logistics and a member of the Langstone Harbour Board among other duties.

Projects I have been involved in on Hayling include Hayling for St George, a Community Concert celebrating all things English. Which is taking place in August 2015 for the fourth year. I am also a founding member of Play Parks for Hayling. This project is fundraising and planning the refurbishment of the existing play parks on Hayling Island. The other members of PP4H are Cllr Andy Lenaghan and WPC Debbie Surridge.

On 13th May 2015 I had the honour to be elected the 42nd Mayor of the Havant Borough.
My aim for my Mayoral year is to promote the Borough of Havant and to support our Armed Forces. During the year 2015-2016 there are important anniversaries to commemorate which we will mark with respect and thanksgiving.

We will fund raise for The Mayor of Havant’s Community Chest as our chosen charity this year. This money will be available to charities, good causes and Community Groups within the Havant Borough.

Andy and I look forward to meeting residents from across the Borough and representing them at Civic occasions in other towns and cities.
