Tuesday 30/6/15 Princess Ida performed by Havant Light Opera

June 30, 2015

Also with Clare Satchwell, I visited The Spring tonight to see a production of Prncess Ida, performed by The Havant Light Opera. What a talented company of players. We laughed so much and really enjoyed the evening. One of the stars was ex Mayor and fellow Councillor Paul Buckley, who I must say I will never again see again in quite the same light!  Those red curls, goodness me.

Tuesday 30/6/15 Havant College end of term Art Show

June 30, 2015

With my fellow Councillor Clare Satchwell, I visited the Havant College BTEC Pre-Degree Foundation and A Level students end of term Art Show at Langstone Technology Park. Fasset kindly hosting the event for the College. The art was of a high standard and we enjoyed placing our red dots next to our favourite exhibits. Unfortunately we had another engagement so were unable to stay until the awards were given.

Tuesday 30/6/15 The Gideons

June 30, 2015

Today Cedric Moppett and an associate from the Gideons came for coffee in The Parlour. He presented me with two bibles, one for Andy and one for me. This is a tradition that has been carried out for all Mayors for some years. A very kind gesture.

Today I was pleased to welcome actors and committee members of the Havant Passion Play to the Public Service Plaza. I was also interviewed by both Angel and Express FM Radio about the project.

This open air production will be performed in Havant Park on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August 2015. I am looking forward very much to seeing the 70 actors relive the last days of Jesus Christ. I do believe that people of all Faiths will be interested and enjoy this Community project. You can bring a picnic to have during the performance.

Sunday 28/6/15 Holy Trinity Church, Gosport

June 28, 2015

This morning Andy and I attended the Mayor of Gosport’s Civic Sunday at the Holy Trinity Church in Gosport. It is traditional that The Harbour Mayors, Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Havant, support each other’s Civic Events where possible.

The service was well attended with humour from the Mayor’s Chaplain Canon John Draper.

Saturday 27/6/15 H.I.A.D.S

June 27, 2015

In the evening we went to the young HIADS production of “Don’t Forget to be Awesome”. Written, produced and acted by themselves, there were four short plays, each very different. The imagination that they showed was amazing. Very clever and amusing.

June 27, 2015

On a beautiful sunny afternoon we visited Fairfield Infants School in Havant. We first judged their Fancy Dress Competition, an almost impossible task, they were all so good. Then we walked round all the stalls, finishing off with a lovely cream tea.

Thursday 25/6/15 Hayling College Prizegiving

June 25, 2015

This evening we were present at the Hayling College prize giving evening. I do find visiting the College rewarding and enjoyable. The students were polite and confident and a packed hall applauded their achievements.

Thursday 25/6/15 Riders School Litter Pick

June 25, 2015

At lunchtime Andy and I went to watch the children of Riders School in Leigh Park litter pick. This was organised by Litter Action. After a talk by one of the HBC Environmental Rangers we presented certificates to the children. They were very bright and asked some searching questions of the ranger.

Thursday 25/6/15 Funlands

June 25, 2015

Late afternoon we opened the new Jurassic Ride at Funlands and went on the first ride.

The evening was in aid of Epilepsy Action and it is the third year Funlands have held this event. As the photo’s show we did have a very good time and hope we may have helped raise the profile of this worthwhile charity.

Wednesday 24/6/15 The High Sheriff at Home

June 25, 2015

In the evening we spent a pleasant couple of hours in the gardens of the High Sheriff of Hampshire at Ashe near Basingstoke. The High Sheriff is the Sovereign’s representative for matters relating to the Judicary and law and order. We are certainly meeting people from all walks of life during our Mayoral year, and of course promoting Havant at every opportunity.

Wednesday 24/6/15 The Abbeyfield Society

June 25, 2015

In the afternoon Andy and I enjoyed a Strawberry Tea in the gardens of Abbeyfield in Havant. With Havant residents attending and some from Gosport, what a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Abbeyfield are homes where older people can live independently but with some assistance. A lovely way to live.

Tuesday 23/6/15 Waterlooville Golf Club

June 24, 2015

In the evening after a day of golf for most, we sat down to an excellent carvery meal in the very nice dining room of the Waterlooville Golf Club. After a hard fought competition the winners were announced and prizes given out.

We are very grateful to those who donated prizes and sponsored holes, helping us to raise funds for our Community Chest.

Tuesday 23/6/15 The Mayor of Havant’s Charity Golf Day

June 23, 2015

Although I did hit my first shot, I don’t think I will be making a career of Golf. 13 teams competing today with 75 guests for dinner this evening. A great start to our Community Chest fundraising.
