Commissioning of new Area Deans at St. Alban’s Church, West Leigh – 26th October

November 5, 2014

I was invited to the Commissioning of two new Area Deans held at St Alban’s Church West Leigh where Canon Karina Green and the Reverend Andy Wilson were commissioned.

Canon Karina Green will be responsible for the parishes of Havant, Hayling Island and Leigh Park and Reverend Andy Wilson for Waterlooville, Denmead, Cowplain, Hart Plain, Blendworth and Crookhorn parishes.

This was a very interesting service as I had never been to anything like it before.   I wish them well in the future.

Hayling Island Lions Charter Dinner at the Langstone Hotel – 25th October

November 5, 2014

The Lions organisation’s reputation goes before them; they are the largest raiser of charitable funds in the country for international and local causes. Tonight was a Charter Dinner which means that it is their anniversary dinner. The Hayling Lions has now been in existence for 17 years. It was a delightful evening with an opportunity to meet with many members and reflect on all the very good work they do. The dinner was hosted by their President, Lefteris Sergidis who very kindly presented me with a cheque for £100 for my charity appeal fund. It was very kind of them and I thank them very much. What a lovely evening this was!

Mayor Purchasing the First Poppy – 23rd October

November 5, 2014

The Royal British Legion attended the Public Service Plaza to leave boxes of poppies; they invited me to ‘purchase the first poppy’ as the First Citizen of the Borough, which I did with pride. Afterwards I invited the group from the Royal British Legion to join me in the Parlour for coffee.
