On the 25th July, I hosted a visit by 14 children from Chernobyl (ages ranging from 9 – 12) together with some hosts. As part of their visit, Tom McInally, the Mayor’s Attendant on duty showed them the Regalia and explained the history involved with the robes and the Mace (with the help of a translator). The children then tucked into squash and cakes/biscuits.
It is quite amazing that just a 28 day break away from their home environment before they reach puberty, can make a phenomenal difference to their expected lifespan. This is quite an eye opener for all of us!
