To mark the Centenary of the outbreak of the First World War a solemn Service of Remembrance was held at St Thomas of Canterbury Anglican Cathedral in Old Portsmouth.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and Members of the City Council were joined by Mayors from across the County to take part in this service of Remembrance. At the end of the service poppy seeds were scattered by the Lord Mayor in the garden, under a tree at the Cathedral.
