Having opened and presented the Lavender Road branch with their accreditation, I was invited back to this branch to award the staff with their accreditation as a Healthy Living Pharmacy. They showed me all the work that each member of staff had done to achieve this accreditation. The staff should be proud of this achievement that will benefit customers and patients alike

Visit to Open Sight Waterlooville – Monday 21st July
July 23, 2014Open Sight has a network of clubs and groups across the County which offer an opportunity to meet and socialise with other visually impaired people in the area.
I was invited to attend the Waterlooville Open Sight meeting to welcome two cyclists who were cycling from Eastleigh and back again having covered 120 miles. They called in at all the Open Sight groups on route and I was able to welcome them and also spend time talking to users of the club.
This is obviously a lifeline to those unfortunate enough to be visually impaired and the club provides a very welcoming atmosphere.
Family Church Fun Day held in Havant Park – Saturday 19th July
July 23, 2014Family Church Fun Day.
Having attended this event last year in my capacity as Deputy Mayor it was good to be able to return again this year as Mayor. As it did not conflict with any other major events this year, it attracted the support it deserves. There were many stalls and opportunities for everyone to take part, all completely free! There was also live music and plenty of squash and water – all needed on a very hot day!
Well done to the Family Church and thank you for inviting me.
Opening of Play Equipment at Bidbury Mead – Saturday 19 July
July 23, 2014Due to problems with bringing all the arrangements for this together this was third time lucky!
The forecast was for appalling weather but, as luck would have it, it was sunny and warm. Both children parents and dogs were present at the official opening and went on to enjoy the equipment. This play area allows children to develop their own creative play with clever use of natural textures such as wood and grass. All in the lovely environment of Bidbury Mead.
The Rowan’s Hospice 20 Year Anniversary Celebrations – Preview of Sculpture by Philip Jackson – 18 July
July 23, 2014The Rowan’s Hospice 20 year Anniversary Celebrations Preview of Exhibition of Sculpture by Philip Jackson on the 18 July.
I am so enthusiastic about this event that I don’t know where to begin. I was invited because the Rowans Hospice is one of my charities for this year and thank goodness it is! What a privilege to have such a small group going around the Cathedral in Portsmouth to view these magnificent sculptures!
An ideal venue for the pieces that have so much grace and elegance. I leave you to judge for yourself by the picture that follows of Gale Force Nun II.
This exhibition is open until 31st July I urge you to pay a visit – not to be missed!

Havant Academy Awards Evening – 17 July
July 23, 2014It was stiflingly hot on this evening for pupils parents teachers and myself.
Tremendous results by the youngsters many of whom won several awards for achievement and progression within various subjects.
A very interesting talk by International Athlete Bolanle Ogun.
It was good to see that the Academy is progressing so well. It would be nice to be invited to attend some future events when perhaps it is not quite so hot! Well done Havant Academy.
