Launch Event for new Post Office in Havant

July 17, 2014

Hoorah opening of a post office – and not the closing of an existing one!

The new Post Office in Havant Town Centre is in a more easily accessible spot for shoppers and customers generally and the modern retail environment makes it much better to visit and offers longer opening hours to benefit customers. I am delighted that we have this vital community asset in Havant. Good luck Baljit Mandair!

MADD Productions at the Kings Theatre, Southsea on 14 July

July 17, 2014

On Saturday 14 July I attended the MADD Productions performance at the Kings Theatre.

What a magnificent evening showcasing the incredible talent of the youth of Havant. A mix of dance, music acting and drama all so well presented by each of the secondary schools from the Havant Federation.

The Kings Theatre was heaving at the seams with children, parents visitors and supporters. Another great memory that I will treasure for ever! Well done to all involved.

All the Fun of the Fair – Hayling Music Society – 12 July

July 17, 2014

All The Fun of the Fair
What a treat to attend the performance of All the Fun of The Fair staged by Hayling Music Society. A very strong cast in a not very well know musical.

Largely autobiographical story written by David Essex and extremely well portrayed by all the main characters. Their voices were strong and the standard of acting generally was excellent – well up to the standard of the renowned Hayling Musical Society. What a great raft of talent we have in Havant Borough! I look forward to the next production.

St Thomas More’s School Summer Fair – 12 July

July 17, 2014

On arrival at the St Thomas More’s School Summer Fair,
I was met by the headmaster Mr Colin Flanagan who introduced me to other members of staff. Unfortunately due to vast building works beginning just before the end of term it was not possible to see around the school which has changed so much since I did a few days of supply teaching there many years ago. Colin was also taking part in the horse racing attraction I wonder if he won, as he had reached the finals but I had to leave before the deciding race? A thoroughly enjoyable event.

Staunton Festival – 12 July

Staunton Festival

On the 12 July I attended the Staunton Festival. A beautiful hot sunny day and I enjoyed looking at all the stalls and attractions. It was fascinating to hear about the processes used for purifying our tap water also to see one of their original brown Standard vans which had been renovated to its original ‘glory’ – I suggested they might like to enter or show it at our Classic Vehicle Show next April. Another stall at which I spent a long time was the Husky rescue stall. Delightful dogs they were looking forward to a trip into the water mist tent – I don’t blame them, I enjoyed it too – as it was so hot. Due to other Mayoral commitments I couldn’t stay too long but congratulations on a super attraction for the local community.
