Saturday 7th June 4th Fitbeat sporting event and Rally for Heroes

June 11, 2014

On Saturday 7th June we joined  George Topsy Turner and Ruth Dancer for the 4th Fitbeat sporting event.  This encourages all ages to try new sports giving the opportunity to have a go under  supervision.  I thoroughly enjoyed having a go at Archery – although I wasn’t much good at it!  I took the children’s challenge set up by the Fire Brigade dressed up in their uniform, including helmet and boots and waddled down the course and enjoyed spraying the fireman at the end – I cannot tell you how heavy their uniform is and this made it extremely difficult to complete the exercise.  Well done to all Firemen!

Following  Fitbeat,  I went on to the Rally for Heroes event at Tesco in Solent Road, Havant  which is raising money for SSAFA.  There will be  50 cars  travelling through 11 countries in 8 days covering a distance of 2,600 miles.    I was delighted  to be presented with a replica of their mascot a SSAFA teddy bear which I intend to auction at one of my forthcoming charity events to raise funds for my chosen charities,  Raynauds and Scleroderma, Footprints – Downs Syndrome Support and The Rowans Hospice

4th June and visit to Stansted Chapel for Festival of Flowers

June 11, 2014

On the 5th June in the evening, I  attended the Chapel in the grounds of Stansted House where the Rowans Hospice Havant  Support Group had invited me to attend a VIP Evening Reception and Festival of Flowers in the Chapel.   If you have  ever visited, you will know what a glorious chapel this is and the flower arrangements were magnificent; it was a joy to be part of this special occasion.

3rd June – Visit to Buckingham Palace

June 11, 2014

On the 3rd June I was privileged to attend a Buckingham Palace Garden Party this was a lovely experience, except that it positively poured with rain and was very cold.   In attendance were Her Majesty The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, Princess Alexandria and the Duke of Kent.  Despite the weather it is a memory that will live with me forever.

31st May – Beauty and the Beast at Hayling College

June 11, 2014

On the 31st May I attended Hayling College to see Beauty and the Beast performed by the Hayling Music Society.  It was an excellent production, the youngsters performed brilliantly and were a credit to the society.  As the performance was coming to a close the fire alarm sounded, having realised that there was no fire, the cast rose to the occasion magnificently raising their voices to a crescendo they almost drowned the sound of the fire alarm!  On leaving the premises to my amazement, the fire service were already in attendance;  whilst the fire alarm went off only due to intended  smoke on the stage,   as part of the performance, it was reassuring to know that the Fire Service were on site so quickly.
