Following on from yesterday’s successful Havant Civic Day, today saw us meeting with many of the Hampshire Civic heads at Eastleigh’s Civic Offices as guests of the Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Rupert Kyrle.
On leaving the Civic Offices we proceeded by coach to Manor Farm Country Park for a look at what life on the farm was like in times gone by. many old farm implements were to be seen, including several old tractors, and there were a wide variety of animals and farmyard birds, including several young lambs, piglets and chicks.
From the farm we went to the Red Carpet Restaurant at Eastleigh College for lunch before moving on to Arlington Fleet Services at the Eastleigh Rail Works, where we were shown much of the refurbishment work being carried out for various railway operating companies.
After this Elaine and I had to leave the tour to return to havant for a Council meeting, so we were unable to join the rest of the party for a visit to the Lakeside Miniature Railway.
