On a glorious Spring afternoon we went to the Hayling Island Community Centre to visit the Hayling Island Horticultural Society’s Spring Show.
With several different competition classes, there was something for everyone to look at and admire. Whilst there were several classes for flowers and vegetables, there were also photographic and needlework classes plus classes for various types of food items.

It was encouraging to learn about the Growing Together Project. Based at Hayling College, and including several Primary Schools as well as pupils of the College, the Society grows fruit and vegetables aand keeps about 40 chickens. There is a greenhouse and poly-tunnel, and have built there own shed and chicken run and house.
After spending some time looking around, I was asked to present the awards to the winners of the various classes.
