The 20th Annual General Meeting of the Havant Borough Talking Newspaper was held at the Emsworth Centre in South Street, Emsworth, last night.
Started up in 1993, the HBTN has had several moves and is currently based in East Street in Havant, where the recording studio is used to produce both tapes and USB sticks for distribution to those with sight problems which make it difficult to read newspapers and magazines.
The Chairman, Keith Stoneman, opened the meeting in the normal way with a welcome to those there. After the minutes of last year were summarised Keith gave a report of the on the HBTN’s 20 years of existence. Following the Treasurer’s report, and election of Committee, I was asked to give a brief talk on the Mayoral year so far.
After 5 years as Chairman Keith stood down at the meeting, as did the President, Pat Nunn. Pat then proposed that Keith should take her place as President, which was agreed by all those present.
At the end of the meeting refreshments were served, and I was asked to cut a celebratory cake which had been made by the Secretary, Ann Cartwright.
