End of an era March 27th

This year’s school musical production at Cowplain Community School was one with a difference.

Entitled “A Night at the Musicals” it was made up of a wide range of numbers, not only from shows produced in the past, but also from shows which may be performed in the future.

It was also the last show produced during the tenure of Headmaster David Rowlinson, as he is leaving the school today after being at the helm for the last 16 years.

The vocal numbers were taken from shows from different eras, with songs ranging from “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” from Guys & Dolls and “Dancing at the Gym” from West Side Story, to an ABBA medley from Mamma Mia and “Defying Gravity” from Wicked.

The excellent school orchestra performed as backing to all of the numbers and also performed an instrumental, “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray.

This was a night of great entertainment, and was a fitting send-off for David Rowlinson, sitting in his least favourite position, in the front row!
