Bananas and Chocolate Feb 26th.

February 26, 2013

To mark Fairtrade Fortnight, which started yesterday, Elaine & I were at the Public Service Plaza at 8.30 this morning to greet staff and offer a free Fairtrade banana, kindly donated by Fyffes, and some Fairtrade chocolate.

Ably assisted by pupils from St. Thomas More’s Primary School, who were giving out stickers, we were able to ensure that many members of staff and public alike were able to start the day with a healthy snack.

Pupils from St Thomas More Primary School have als designed some artwork based on Fairtrade which will displayed in the Atrium at the Plaza during Fairtrade Fortnight.

Members of the Havant Fairtrade group were also there to help and they believe that products with the Fairtrade Mark make a real difference to the lives of some of the poorest people in the world. There are now around 4,500 products now with the Mark which guarantees that farmers have been paid a fair and stable price and given extra money towards their chosen community projects.
