This afternoon saw the unveiling of the first two Nursery Rhyme tile mosaics at The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre in Havant.
These are the first of ten sets of tiles which were removed when the Havant War Memorial Hospital closed in September 2011.
The ten sets of tiles, with 24 individual tiles in each set, were designed by William Rowe of Royal Doulton and were installed above the ten cots in the new children’s ward in 1936.
The tiles were saved after a lot of pressure from local people, and were then restored with financial help from the Hampshire Museum Service and the NHS.
Although the two sets of tiles will only be on show for a short time, the full set of ten will be at The Spring during September and October.
