The Help in Bereavement AGM was held in the hall of the Baptist Church in Cosham in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and the Mayors and Mayoresses of both Havant and Gosport and one of the founders of the charity, Dr. Isabel Pine.
The attendees were welcomed by the President, Mrs. Joan Eddings, before the main business of the evening commenced. Both the Chairman’s report and that of the treasurer were quite upbeat and these were followed by the co-ordinator’s reports and the election of officers.
Mrs. Rosemary Nott then gave an interesting talk on her month working in an orphanage in Nepal last year..
Havant Councillor Cyril Hilton then presented a cheque for £620 on behalf of Waterlooville Bowls Club.
After several other presentations, it was announced that the President was stepping down, and that her replacement would be Mrs. Gina Thorburn who was stepping down as children’s co-ordinator.
Help in Bereavement gives help and advice to both adults and children and has recently started a social club which is held at St. George’s Church Hall in Waterlooville on the second Monday of the month at 10am.
