Shrove Tuesday Feb 12th.

Today saw the 2013 Waterlooville Pancake Race take place in the Precinct, alongside the Bandstand.

They’re Off!

Several teams of 4 people, including Barclays Bank, Poundland, the Co-op, Havant Borough Council and Waterlooville Police, were there to race for the prize of a £200 cheque, made out to a charity of their choice. This was kindly donated by Bray’s Associates, who run the Friday market in Waterlooville.

The Winning Team

Each team member had to run an out-and-back course, with the ‘pancake’ being tossed twice each way, before passing the frying pan to the next  runner.

The race was eventually won by the team from Waterlooville Police, who donated their cheque to the Rowan’s Hospice.

The winners were then given the annual shield donated by the Waterlooville Business Association, and presented by Rosemary Wilson.
