Southampton Civic Service Feb 6th.

Southampton’s Annual Civic Service, held at St. Mary’s Church near the City centre, was also the occasion for the granting of the Freedom of the City of Southampton to the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Dame Mary Fagan.

We gathered in the Hub at the City College, before processing to the church, preceded by the Mace Bearers.

The service was conducted by Reverend Dr. Julian Davies, the Rector of Southampton, and Reverend Celia Parkes, the assistant priest. Also participating were the Port Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Huckett and the Bishop of Southampton, the Right Reverend Dr. Jonathon Frost.

Choral music was supplied by two choirs, St. Mary’s Singers and the Central Hall Community Choir.

During the service Dame Mary was presented with her scroll of office, and at the conclusion we processed back to the Hub for light refreshments, supplied by the catering and hospitality students.
