This evening Elaine & I had the pleasure of opening Havant Camera Club’s 42nd National Open Exhibition.

Held for the third time at Havant’s Meridian Shopping Centre, the competition had over 2,000 entries from all parts of the UK, including the Channel Islands.

After we had been shown around the exhibition, and having said a few words to those attending, I was asked to present the trophies and certificates. Unfortunately, being a National competition, several of the prize winners were not there. However, quite a number were there, especially those from the Havant club.

The exhibition carries on until Sunday, November 18th, and is well worth a visit.

Hayling College Awards Nov 8th

This event saw the awarding of certificates and prizes to those pupils of Hayling College who finished their secondary schooling at the end of the last Summer term, and began with a welcome by the Head Girl, Mhairi Allison.

There were some excellent exam results from this group of students, with many gaining more than 10 GCSEs.

The Certificates were presented by Laura Duncan, a past pupil of the College who left in 2004 and, after some time in further education, is now teaching at a local pre-school. She also jointly runs the youth group of the Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society.

The formal part of the evening was brought to a close with a vote of thanks given by the Head Boy Connor Benham.

This was followed by the cutting of of a celebratory cake, and an excellent buffet which was prepared by the college catering staff.
