Frontline Reception Oct 16th

October 16, 2012

Tonight we attended a reception, hosted by the leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, given to recognise some of those people who work mainly in the background of public life.

Among them are many who work in schools, but are not teaching staff, such as Cleaners, Administration Officers, Site Managers. Lunchtime Supervisors, Literacy Support Assistants and others who are not generally given credit for the work that they do.

There were also many others who deserve to be recognised, like Trading Standards Officers, Emergency Helicopter Coordinator & Administrative Assistant and more.

Representing the Borough of Havant were a number of people from Purbrook Infant and Junior Schools.

Smile Beach Hut Oct 16th

October 16, 2012

This afternoon saw Elaine & myself, once again, on the beach at Hayling Island.

This time we were there to officially open a beach hut that has been donated to one of my Mayoral Charities, Smile Support & Care, in order that they can take some of those under their care to spend a day at the seaside, along with their families.

The CEO of the charity, Stuart Baldwin, was there together with Jess, the Community Fundraiser, and Steve Burt from Littlehampton, who came with 17 year old Liam, who is in permanent need of a wheelchair. Fortunately, the hut already has wheelchair access, so any of those being cared for can use the facility.

Also there were three representatives from ASDA in Fareham, Havant and Waterlooville, who have spent some time helping to renovate and paint the hut.
