This was the occasion of the dinner to mark the 15th Anniversary of the granting of the Charter marking the inauguration of the Lions Club of Hayling Island.
On arrival we were greeted by Lion President Gill Sutherland and were immediately made to feel very welcome. The evening passed very quickly, and was marked by a great deal of fun and very pleasant conversation.
After dinner there were the usual toasts and speeches, and I was asked to respond on behalf of the guests. I was very happy to do this, with Elaine & myself having had an extremely pleasant evening.
Following this, and to my great surprise and absolute delight, Lion President Gill Sutherland presented me with a cheque for £500 for this year’s Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
Hayling Island Lions Club, having around 30 members, is a very successful organisation, having distributed around £30,000 to good causes, locally, nationally and internationally, over the past year. Much of this success is due to their very popular Community shop in Elm Grove.
