Positive Role Models July 17th

This evening we attended the last night of the Positive Role Model initiative, which was held at Waterlooville fire station.

This is what happens!

This is what happens!

Eighteen pupils, mainly 15 years old, took part in a twelve week programme which included both community and awareness activities. They were mentored by representatives of the Police, Fire Service and Havant Borough Council, and a good rapport was formed between them all.

The pupils, from Cowplain, Crookhorn, Havant Academy, Horndean and Purbrook Park Schools took part in such things as litter picking and tidying areas in a cemetery.

The end!

The end!

Many of the young people had not met before the start of the course but, by the end, many friendships were formed which could be long-lasting. All of them were very enthusiastic, and the attendance during the 12 weeks was 100%.

The course has just finished it’s third year and it is intended that it will continue next year, when more students will be able to benefit from the experience.

During the evening there was a bouncy castle, “It’s a Knockout” type wrestling, a barbeque and, of course, a presentation of certificates to all those who took part.
