This morning a group of students from Warblington School visited the Council Chamber at the public service Plaza to meet with councillors and the Mayor.
The first hour was spent in discussions with Councillor Yvonne Weeks and Councillor Ray Bolton. Several topics were discussed, including the cost of bus travel, the condition of Havant Park, communication from the council to young people in the Borough via the website and youth participation on the council. Other topics were the Warblington railway gates and Havant Leisure Centre.
I attended for the second hour of discussions, and I was able to respond to some of the questions put to me regarding student involvement. I suggested that some of them might like to come along to a council meeting to see how it is conducted.
having been to the Hampshire Scouts AGM in June, it was very pleasing for me to find out that several of the students belong to Scout and Guide groups, and some of them had been to the Scout Jamboree in Sweden.
