This evening, along with other Mayors and District Chairmen, we attended a Jubilee reception, given by the Mayor of Test Valley, at the beautiful National trust property, Mottisfont Abbey. Also there was the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Dame Mary Fagan.

During the evening we were treated to a wide range of music played by the Michelmersh Silver Band.

As the weather decided to stay dry, we were able to look around the Rose Garden and the lovely Walled Garden.

Hand-made Jubilee bunting was strung between posts outside of the Walled Garden, where the Reception was being held.

We had the privilege to be invited by the Chichester Harbour Conservancy to join a group, including the Lord Lieutenants of West Sussex and Hampshire, to watch the Festival of Working Boats and Jubilee Sail Past from on board the solar powered catamaran “SolarHeritage”, moored at the beautiful setting of Itchenor.

About 40 boats took past in the Parade and Sail Past, and these ranged from the Oyster boat “Terror”, built about 1890, to the brand new “John Q Davis”, which has not yet been officially launched and is built to be used to take Wheelchair-bound forces personnel around Chichester Harbour.

Although the weather was damp and cloudy, most of the boats were dressed overall with signal flags.
